Protector Safety "Lunguard" Respirator 

Industrial Protective Safety Co, sometimes referred to as "IPCO" or just Protector Safety, was Australia's dominant industrial respirator manufacturer. In fact, it was IPCO themselves who created what is regarded as Australia's only completely original designed and manufactured gas mask, known as the "Lunguard"

The Lunguard was designed with the "Australian Standards' Association Specification Number Z18" in mind, and IPCO claims that the Lunguard surpasses all of the required specifications. 

There was a wide range of kits for the Lunguard available for purchase. For the time period that my mask and documents originate from, the Lunguard was offered in these configurations:

Each variation comes with a strong metal reinforced fibre 12" x 9" x 7" carrying case with instructions as to use and care printed inside lid and internally furnished to carry

27" Rubber convoluted hose fitted with 7 t.p.i male screw in adaptor to fit the mask at one end - the other end is 3/4" Internal Diameter and is furnished with hose clip for use with a canister's 3/4" bush connection

27" Rubber convoluted hose fitted with 7 t.p.i male screw in adaptor to fit the mask at one end - the other end is 3/4" Internal Diameter and is furnished with hose clip for use with a canister's 3/4" bush connection -- with provision for attaching a "Sam Brown" belt and sash, harness to carry hose end and canister at waist, hip or rear

These kits are supplied either in a heavy sheet steel box with handles at each end or alternatively in a metal reinforced 24" fibre carrying case with instructions as to use and maintenance printed inside the lid and furnished with mountings for the mask and various accessories

Terylene webbing belt with plated swaged 3/4" copper tube block mounted to it.

Identical with above but with the exception that the 30' hose is spiral wire reinforced poly-vinyl-chloride, resulting in tremendous weight reduction
